| In Memoriam Wally, the Springer Spaniel, ended up in the local shelter with his time running out. The local animal shelter worked hard each week to put pictures of the pets up for adoption in the newspaper. My mother, who just happened to see his picture that day, wasn't going to get another dog. My father was done with dogs. Needless to say his nothing less than compelling picture caused her to go down and adopt him. He ran out of that shelter door and into the car as if he knew his life had just begun. I don't know what his history was or what path brought him to this place. I do know he was the most loving dog on the planet, and he got a great home. The people at the shelter were worried for him and so happy when he got adopted. My mother assured them that he got a happy home, all this as she was having his picture taken with Santa. Wally's story is one of unconditional love and devotion. He was my mother's best friend and stood by her during many of life's trials. He was truly the best friend anyone could have asked for. He lived a long life that enriched everyone he met. |
